Description from the seller
MANFRED LINUS KREINER (1926–2005)
Title: Jacqueline Kennedy and Inés Mendoza — Arrival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, December 15, 1961
DESCRIPTION:
Magnificent photograph of Jacqueline Kennedy during the official arrival of the American presidential couple in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on December 15, 1961. John F. and Jacqueline Kennedy are welcomed at the airport by the governor of Puerto Rico, Luis Muñoz Marín, and his wife, Inés Mendoza.
In the foreground, Jacqueline Kennedy appears particularly radiant, a bouquet of flowers in her arms, beside Inés Mendoza, First Lady of Puerto Rico. Her broad smile and the spontaneity of her expression give this photograph a particularly warm and elegant dimension, at the heart of the ceremonial reception accorded to the Kennedy couple.
This arrival in Puerto Rico marks the beginning of a presidential tour that would take John F. and Jacqueline Kennedy next to Venezuela and then Colombia, in the context of the American policy of the Alliance for Progress.
