This artwork is an original photolithograph by the world-famous surrealist artist Max Ernst from 1972.
It bears the title “Idole” (often also listed as Untitled (Mythological Figures)) and comes from the graphic series illustrating the play “Judith. Tragedy in Three Acts” by Jean Giraudoux. The edition was published at that time by Manus Presse in Stuttgart. The image shows stylized, mythological animal figures – a larger, dark-clad figure with horns and beside it a smaller, cat- or lion-like creature against a warm red background with an ornamental sun.

Dieses Kunstwerk ist eine Original-Fotolithografie des weltberühmten surrealistischen Künstlers Max Ernst aus dem Jahr 1972.
Es trägt den Titel „Idole“ (oft auch als Untitled (Mythological Figures) geführt) und stammt aus der Grafikserie zur Illustration des Theaterstücks „Judith. Tragödie in drei Akten“ von Jean Giraudoux. Die Edition wurde damals von der Manus Presse in Stuttgart herausgegeben. Das Bild zeigt stilisierte, mythologische Tiergestalten – eine größere, dunkel gewandete Figur mit Hörnern und daneben ein kleineres, katzen- oder löwenartiges Wesen vor einem warmen, roten Hintergrund mit einer ornamentalen Sonne.
