About the work:

Catalogue raisonné: Sol LeWitt Prints Catalogue Raisonné, No. 1983.07
The composition consists of twelve square image fields arranged in a strictly geometric grid of three rows and four columns. Each field contains a different geometric figure, including circle, triangle, rectangle, trapezoid and other polygonal forms. Together they form a varied sequence of abstract structures that, despite their different contours, follow a unified design order.
Particularly appealing is the interplay of fine horizontal and vertical lines. While the individual geometric figures are defined by a specific line direction, the lines in the surrounding areas run in the opposite direction. This creates subtle optical effects that give the forms a surprising spatial dimension.
Framing:
The work is professionally framed and encased in a custom white wooden frame. The glazing consists of high-quality Plexiglas Optical HC, which provides UV protection, scratch resistance and low light reflection.
Format including frame about 68 x 85 cm.
About the artist:
Sol LeWitt (1928–2007) is one of the pioneering figures of American art in the 20th century and is regarded as one of the most important representatives of Conceptual Art and Minimal Art. Since the 1960s, he developed an independent visual language based on geometric basic forms, mathematical orders and systematic variations.
For LeWitt, the artistic idea was central. His famous wall drawings, three-dimensional structures and graphic editions demonstrate how a nearly unlimited variety of forms and color constellations can arise from simple rules.
His works are internationally recognized and represented in major museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Tate in London and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
