Description from the seller
Broer Dobbelsteen was a versatile Brabantian artist who made a name for himself mainly with his colorful and expressive paintings. Although he was originally trained as a designer at the academy in Eindhoven, in 1964 he switched course to devote himself entirely to free art. His work, which often revolves around human figures and abstract forms, stands out for its lively use of color and a very own, recognizable handwriting. Until his death in 2019 he remained a notable figure in the Geldrop region, where he worked for years on a body of work that still frequently appears with collectors and at art auctions.
The oil paintings by Broer Dobbelsteen are known for their powerful, expressive appearance heavily influenced by the CoBrA movement. He employed a recognizable technique in which he often worked with thick layers of paint (impasto) and a rough, spontaneous brushwork.
Dimensions of the work: 100 x 118 cm
Dimensions of the work with frame: 117 x 127 cm
The varnish on the frame is damaged
Viewings are, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framery, celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the professional association: Restauratoren Nederland. If you wish to use this, of course we would be happy to hear about it.
Shipping is possible; we will arrange this after purchase. For questions, please contact us.
