Description from the seller

Antique mortar with handle – Solid cast brass – 19th century – 2.5 kg

Description:
Magnificent antique mortar from the second half of the 19th century, made of solid cast brass and accompanied by its handle or pestle.

This is a piece that is especially sturdy and heavy, with an approximate total weight of 2.5 kg, characteristic of old mortars made in cast metal.

It presents a traditional form with a widened rim, stable base, and simple decorative turned elements. The handle, also of cast brass, retains its original shape.

The surface preserves an attractive natural patina acquired over time, as well as marks, small scratches, irregularities and signs of use typical of its age. Inside, traces of oxidation and a greenish patina characteristic of copper alloys can be observed.

Era: second half of the 19th century.

Approximate measurements:

* Mortar height: 10 cm
* Maximum diameter: 13 cm
* Interior depth: 7 cm
* Length of the handle/pestle: 21 cm
* Total weight: approximately 2.5 kg

Material: solid cast brass.

An authentic traditional-era piece from the 19th century, attractive both as a collectible item and for interior decoration in a classic, rustic, or historic style.

Measurements and weight are approximate.

The photographs are an integral part of the description and show in detail the condition of the piece.
