Description from the seller

Vintage CORONA Gasoline Lighter (Lift-Arm Mechanism) – Germany, ca. 1928 – Functional!

Description:

Up for sale is an authentic collector's item for tobacconists and antique enthusiasts: a CORONA mechanical gasoline lighter, manufactured in Germany in the late 1920s (ca. 1928), by the Sarastro workshops (Frankfurt).

The lighter is perfectly functional (produces a strong spark and ignites the flame instantly, according to the attached photo).

Technical details and features:

Mechanism: Lift-Arm type (manually folding arm to protect the wick), a classic and ingenious system, extremely popular in the interwar period.

Design: Pure Art Deco style, with a solid brass casing engraved with fine vertical lines (guilloché / engine-turned pattern). In the center, it features a circular cartridge engraved with the elegant monogram "RIV".

Markings on the filling screw: CORONA brand, original detailed imperial crown logo and vintage German patent number 401 311 (D.R.P.).

Aesthetic condition: Presents a superb natural patina. The original nickel/chrome plating has worn away on the sides from decades of use, revealing the warm, golden tones of the base brass – a detail that enhances its historical character and authenticity.

A rare piece, almost 100 years old, ideal for gift giving, display in a display case or as a refined pocket accessory
