Description from the seller
DeWitt Academia Slide Automatic – Ref. AC.SLD.001 RPB
DeWitt is a Geneva-based Swiss haute horlogerie manufacture founded by Jérôme de Witt in 2003. From the beginning, the brand chose a very different path from traditional mass-market watchmaking, combining highly technical mechanical movements with bold architectural designs. DeWitt’s watches are recognizable by details such as the characteristic imperial columns and sculpted cases. The Academia collection is where the manufacture presents some of its most unconventional mechanical creations.
The Academia Slide is an especially unusual example. Rather than displaying the time with conventional central hands, the watch uses a three-dimensional mechanism in which the hours, minutes and seconds are presented through moving elements on the dial. The mechanism was developed and manufactured by DeWitt and gives the watch its distinctive character.
The watch has an impressive 49.2 mm titanium case with a thickness of 15.3 mm. Titanium keeps the large watch relatively light while giving the case a contemporary technical appearance. The black dial is protected by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and the open sapphire case back allows the mechanical construction to be viewed.
Inside is DeWitt's automatic DW 0101 movement, featuring 22 jewels, 276 components and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement provides approximately 42 hours of power reserve and drives the three-dimensional hours, minutes and seconds display.
The black leather strap is 23 mm wide and is fitted with a deployment clasp. Water resistance is rated at 30 metres.
