Description from the seller

Achille D’Orsi (1845-1929) - Sculpture, water carrier - 53 cm - Bronze, Marble signed at the base
Achille D’Orsi (1845-1929) - Sculpture, water bearer - 53 cm - Bronze, Marble

young boy water carrier bronze of Neapolitan manufacture and school, early 1900s, excellent craftsmanship, very beautiful and distinctive marble, excellent condition, gorgeous patina! Achille D'Orsi (Naples, August 6, 1845 – February 8, 1929) was an Italian sculptor.
A pupil of Tito Angelini and Tommaso Solari at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, he perfected his art with a stay in Rome, before returning to live in the Campanian capital.

He adheres to the realist current and becomes known with his works Parasites (the bronze model is today housed in the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Florence, while the patinated plaster version made to look like bronze in the National Museum of Capodimonte in Naples), The Old Woman and The Seller, presented at the Naples Exhibition of 1877. These same works were reproduced the following year at the Universal Exposition of 1878 held in Paris.
