-Vahe-André Hekimyan (1913–1997) was a painter of Armenian origin born in Turkey who developed a large part of his career in France. Connected to the artistic milieu of the School of Paris, he was part of the generation of foreign artists who contributed to the cultural dynamism of the French capital in the twentieth century.
His painting is characterized by a sensitive and expressive figuration, with special attention to color, light, and the structure of the composition. Throughout his career he produced landscapes, intimate scenes, and figurative compositions, evolving toward an increasingly synthetic language.
-The work starts from an abstract, material-based composition in which the artist develops a surface rich in texture through thick layers of paint. The piece is organized around a central structure of fragmented rectangular forms that recall a mosaic or an assemblage of plates. The palette, dominated by ochres, golds, and earthy tones, creates a contrast with the darker background and emphasizes the relief of the surface, imparting depth and a strong visual presence.
