Description from the seller
Montblanc Meisterstück 149, 14k gold, 80’s – Germany
Brand: Montblanc
Materials: Black resin and 14k gold
Provenance: Private collection
Dimensions: 14.5 x 2 x 2 cm.
The Meisterstück, which means “masterpiece” in German, lives up to its name with superb craftsmanship. Since its creation, this fountain pen has been one of the most coveted writing items. Today, this companion for visionaries, dreamers, and ambitious minds remains an icon of writing.
The cap and the barrel are made of precious black resin, with the iconic white Montblanc emblem inlaid on the top of the cap. The fountain pen features the emblematic 14k gold hand-ground nib. As a curiosity, this nib is sculpted by the brand’s artisans with sheets of gold, in a process that involves 35 steps.
Montblanc
The company was founded in 1906, when August Eberstein, a designer, and Alfred Nehemias, a banker, created its first line of fountain pens. Although they initially produced simple fountain pens, they gradually began to focus on luxury writing instruments, and thus in 1908 the “Rouge et Noir” was born, Montblanc’s first luxury fountain pen.
Since then, Montblanc has continued expanding its line of fountain pens. In 1924 they launched the famous Meisterstück, which today is the most famous fountain pen of all time. With this, Montblanc established itself as a manufacturer and distributor of luxury goods, such as writing instruments, watches, bags, leather goods, jewelry, fragrances, and other accessories.
After World War II came a period of reconstruction and innovation in the late 1940s, and Montblanc artisans chose a new, much more streamlined look for the Meisterstück: the iconic design became known for its pure form. In 1949, Montblanc introduced a trio of models: the 142, the 144, and the 146. Three years later, a new size of the Meisterstück was launched. Thus the iconic 149 was born.
The product shipping will be paid by the buyer according to the dimensions, weight, and destination. Shipping costs include professional, custom-made packaging; and the shipment with tracking number and warranty.
