Description from the seller
Exceptional and authentic table lighter of petrol from the famous French brand MYON, model 401 “Giant,” dating from the Art Deco / Mid-20th Century era.
This iconic model is composed of a robust upper semi-automatic metal mechanism chrome-plated, embedded in a magnificent outer case of goldsmith’s work. The outer sheath surrounding the entire body of the lighter is entirely made of silver. It features sumptuous hand-engraved and repoussé high-relief work on both faces. The décor displays traditional Asian iconography of the mythological Dragon traveling among the clouds and sacred waves, a style typical of Southeast Asian or colonial Indochina silverware pieces of that period.
The bottom of the lighter bears all of its original markings guaranteeing its authenticity: “MYON 401 GEANT,” the French legal patent “BESGDG,” as well as an artisanal serial number hand-engraved (1163). The two flat access screws (for the stone compartment and the felt reservoir) are original and in perfect condition.
Operational status:
The upper mechanism functions perfectly on the mechanical level and produces a powerful and excellent spark when triggered. The original wick is in place. The item has not been tested with petrol or refill fuel; it is sold as-is, ready to use after filling or perfect for incorporating into a prestigious tobacco-related collection.
