Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Rare lot of six promotional posters published by Edizioni Araldo in 1970, all illustrated by Claudio Villa and featuring Tex Willer, in good condition, each measuring 28.5 x 41 cm.
Description from the seller
Rare collectible for collectors and fans of Tex Willer: the complete series of 6 historical promotional posters, entirely illustrated by Claudio Villa, a tribute to the legendary master Aurelio Galleppini (Galep).
These splendid and vivid vertical posters reproduce the subjects and the most famous covers of Tex's Golden Age, set between the late 1970s and the early months of 1971.
Historical information on distribution:
These 6 individual posters were not physically included with the comics at newsstands. They were printed and distributed by Edizioni Araldo between late 1970 and early 1971 as autonomous promotional freebies. They were distributed exclusively through special channels reserved for the era's most loyal readers, such as comic fairs, sector events, or sent directly by the publisher to those who made an explicit request. This makes the complete series very difficult to obtain today as a block.
The 6 subjects included in the lot:
1. Tex with a rifle beside the iconic Indian grave with the inscription "Tex".
2. Tex clinging to rock during a dramatic hand-to-hand clash with a native.
3. Tex on horseback in the forest while a native lunges from a tree.
4. Tex delivering a punch to a soldier in uniform (light blue jacket) on the deck of a ship.
5. Tex depicted from behind beside Lilyth, with an Indian camp in the background.
6. Tex kneeling among the canyons as he shoots at a bandit on horseback.
. The back of all sheets is completely white, free of any editorial marks, modern credits, barcodes, or copyright (elements inevitably present in later reissues such as those by IF Edizioni or the supplements of newspapers). The paper shows the distinctive and fascinating natural browning/yellowing of age along the edges and folds, testifying to over 50 years of history.
Lot conditions:
• Folds: All posters feature the natural crossed editorial folds from when they were shipped or distributed by the publisher.
An excellent opportunity for Tex collectors to secure a clean, orderly sequence of Villa's introvables panels in excellent condition. The photos faithfully show the front and back of each individual piece.
