E. García - Relax XL

RELAX is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work portrays a scene of conscious retreat, a moment of pause where the body and mind reconcile with their surroundings. The figure, submerged in water and absorbed in reading, inhabits a space that does not belong entirely to the interior nor to the exterior, but to an intimate dimension where time dissolves.

The bathtub, turned into a refuge, stands amidst lush vegetation that envelops the scene with a sense of living calm. The leaves, broad and organic, are not just scenery: they act as an extension of silence, a natural veil that protects and accompanies. The color builds a sensory atmosphere. Deep greens and refreshing blues contrast with the warm tones of the body and the red base, generating a gentle tension between energy and rest. It is a balance between the vital and the contemplative, between the physical and the mental.

The book introduces an introspective dimension: this is not only about resting, but about inhabiting a thought, traveling without moving. The figure does not seek the viewer; she is completely surrendered to her own world, reinforcing the idea of chosen isolation and inner well-being.

Relax is a painting about self-care, about the luxury of stopping. A reminder that, amid excess and speed, there are still spaces where simply being — breathing, reading, feeling — is enough.
