E. García - LA PARTIDA DE AJEDREZ XL

CHESS GAME is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this work, silence becomes the protagonist. A small table supports the laid-out board, with the pieces lined up as if the game were about to begin or had just paused at a decisive moment. The two empty chairs suggest absence, anticipation, or a suspended conversation.

The interior space is bathed in warm light filtering through the window. The vibrant yellow of the curtain contrasts with the deep greens of the plants peeking through the glass, creating a balance between a cozy interior and the exterior nature. The loose, expressive brushstrokes bring the foliage to life, adding movement against the geometric stillness of the board.

The bookcase on one side introduces an intellectual dimension, reinforcing the idea of strategy and reflection. The warm tones of the floor and the sharply defined shadows add depth and atmosphere, while the dark furniture structures the composition with clear, elegant lines.

The chess game is a scene of restrained tension. It speaks of thought, the pause before the decision, and the invisible dialogue between two presences we do not see, but feel. It is a tribute to intelligence, to time halted, and to the beauty of everyday rituals.
