E. García - Un gato en la cocina XL

A CAT ON THE HILL is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This painting captures the tranquil elegance of an afternoon on the water. Seated in a small boat, a young woman holds a yellow parasol adorned with delicate pink flowers, whose luminosity becomes the visual centerpiece of the scene. Around her, the river proceeds calmly between soft reflections and tree-lined shores.

The work evokes the spirit of late 19th-century leisure rides, where nature and refined recreation were in perfect harmony. The white dress, relaxed posture, and contemplative expression of the figure convey a sense of calm and introspection, as if time had paused for a moment.

The palette combines soft greens, nacreous whites, and radiant yellows that bring freshness and brightness. The parasol, almost like a giant flower opened to the sun, establishes a visual dialogue with the surrounding landscape and gives the composition a cheerful and ornamental character.

More than a simple outdoor scene, “Boat Ride” speaks of contemplation and the pleasure of letting oneself be carried along. The quiet movement of the boat, the murmur of the water, and the protective shade of the parasol turn this moment into an intimate experience, where beauty lies in the simplicity of a tranquil afternoon.

The painting invites the viewer to accompany the young woman on her journey, to feel the gentle breeze, and to enjoy that brief moment of serenity that remains suspended between light, water, and memory.
