A collectible 1958 US pressing of John Coltrane’s Coltrane, released on Prestige Records (PRLP 7105). This edition features the less common alternative red cover. The original Prestige pressing also has deep-groove labels, along with RVG and AB markings in the deadwax.

Vinyl: VG+, with visible signs of use but in very good overall condition.

The album features Coltrane on tenor saxophone with Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Art Taylor on drums. The music combines hard bop with the increasingly exploratory style that would define Coltrane’s later work. Highlights include “Bakai,” “Violets for Your Furs,” “Time Was” and “Straight Street.”
