Marvelette (Union Vulpen Fabriek), a striped piston‑filler fountain pen with a Degussa 14K gold nib (.585), made of resin/polyester in Germany in the second half of the 20th century, is 13.5 cm long and 1.3 cm in diameter and is in good working order.
Description from the seller
This Union Vulpen Fabriek / Marvelette is a Dutch vintage piston filler fountain pen from the 1950s, fitted with a German-made Degussa 14K / 585 gold nib with a noticeably flexible writing character. Degussa was one of the important independent German nib manufacturers of the period and had close historical links with Osmia, supplying gold nibs to numerous European pen makers.
Marvelette was one of the brands produced by Union Vulpen Fabriek in The Hague, one of the relatively few Dutch manufacturers active in fountain-pen production during the mid-20th century. After the Second World War, Union operated within the wider Esveha industrial complex in The Hague. The pen itself has a striped barrel, black cap and piston knob, blue ink window and gold-plated trim. Its Dutch manufacture, The Hague background and flexible Degussa nib place it firmly within the same wider Continental European fountain-pen tradition as better-known makers such as Pelikan and Osmia.
The pen is in very good, pre-owned condition and has been carefully cleaned. The piston operates smoothly and the pen is ready to use. Imperfection: light scratches and signs of use.
