Aphrodite's Child – 666 (US) is a scarce 1974 Vertigo Spaceship double LP pressed at Columbia Records' Terre Haute plant with MASTERDISK runout, US release VEL 2-500, including the original inner sleeve and a gatefold sleeve in VG to VG+ condition across both discs.
Description from the seller
Scarce 1974 US pressing of Aphrodite's Child's legendary double album 666 (The Apocalypse of John, 13/18), issued on Vertigo under catalogue number VEL 2-500. This particular variation is distinguished by the classic Vertigo Spaceship labels and was pressed at Columbia Records' Terre Haute facility, identifiable by the Terre Haute markings in the runout. The 1974 Terre Haute configuration represents a recognised US repress of the album and differs considerably in presentation from the original European Vertigo swirl editions. An additional collector detail is the MASTERDISK marking in the runout, identifying the mastering and cutting facility used for this particular US issue. 666 is the ambitious final album by Aphrodite's Child, featuring Vangelis and Demis Roussos, loosely based around the Book of Revelation. The record moves between psychedelic rock, progressive rock, experimental passages and extended compositions, with highlights including "The Four Horsemen," "Aegian Sea," "The Beast," "Altamont," "The Wedding of the Lamb" and the enormous "All the Seats Were Occupied." It has become one of the most celebrated cult albums of European progressive and psychedelic rock.
⸻
Sleeve (VG):
The original gatefold sleeve shows visible ringwear together with normal age-related handling wear. There is also a small seam split along the top edge. Despite these signs of use, the sleeve remains structurally presentable and the distinctive artwork displays well → VG
Inner Sleeve:
Original inner sleeve included.
Disc 1 (VG+):
The vinyl retains a nice original gloss with normal light signs of previous play and some superficial marks. Overall a solid and attractive VG+ copy.
Disc 2 (VG+):
Likewise retains good original shine with some light surface wear and hairlines, but no major distracting damage. Another solid VG+ disc.
