Description from the seller

Francisco de GOYA (1746-1828)
La Tauromachia Sheet #11: El Cid Campeador lancing another bull
Etching
Sheet size: 495 mm x 360 mm Original size
Image size: 310 mm x 205 mm
La Tauromaquia is the third major graphic cycle by Goya and illustrates the history of bullfighting in Spain. The first of a total of 7 editions appeared initially with 33 sheets, seven more sheets were added in later editions.
This sheet #11 was published in outstanding quality in 1923 in the large folio (a total of 43 copper etchings) by Hugo Schmidt (Munich) and issued by Hugo Kehrer. The reprints were produced after the originals of the 1st edition of the Graphic Collection in Munich. 500 copies were issued. The sheet belongs to the numbered edition No. 178 (see photo). Text pages with proof of the origin of the etching will be sent as copies with shipment.
The sheet is slightly wavy in the outer margin due to the printing.

Sheet #11: Goya here again refers to the 1777 history of Spanish bullfighting written by Moratin the Elder. The medieval folk hero El Cid, whose horse is very elaborately worked, kills the bull with a spear.
The signature appears on the lower right near the image edge in the shadow of the horse.
