The Carrera
At the mid-1970s, Montblanc began a partnership with Porsche for a line of entry-level pens that yielded the Carrera line. Of these, the range (launched in 1978) was the high-end line. A tubular design, characteristic of the era, the Carrera was made in brushed or silver metal, with a distinctive clip. The range was available in ballpoint, rollerball, and fountain pen variants. The fountain pens had steel nibs (gold nibs were also offered as an option) and could use cartridges or a converter. The Carrera range lasted until around 1984. Note that the ballpoint was one of the last Montblanc models to use the older type of refill (longer than the current version, but these can be adapted with an extender and are used in the older ballpoint pens).
