Montblanc Meisterstück 742 fountain pen with gold‑plated cap, black resin body, 14K solid gold nib, piston filling system, 12.7 cm long, 1.1 cm diameter, origin Germany, mid‑20th century, serial 742, in good used condition and fully functional.
Description from the seller
The Montblanc Meisterstück 742 is presented in very good overall condition, maintaining an excellent aesthetic presence and full functionality, particularly notable for a piece of its era.
The body and the black resin section retain a deep, uniform shine, with slight surface micro-scratches from use, visible only under close inspection and compatible with careful use. No cracks, fissures, or deformations are evident.
The gold-plated metal cap with a striped pattern is in very good condition, with the gold finish well preserved and uniform, showing only light surface marks due to the passage of time, with no significant loss of plating. The clip maintains proper alignment and tension, and the Montblanc emblem at the top of the cap remains complete and well defined.
The solid 14K gold nib (585), medium point, is in excellent structural condition, properly aligned, with no deformations or abnormal wear. It offers a smooth, fluid, and regular writing performance, faithful to the classic character of the Meisterstück line. The ebonite feed remains clean and functional.
The piston-filling system works correctly, with smooth travel and good seal, enabling efficient filling from a bottle.
Overall, this is a very well-preserved, balanced, and fully functional piece, ideal for both a collection and daily vintage writing use.
It will be shipped in a complimentary box for proper preservation.
