Montblanc 644 fountain pen, featuring a black resin body with a gold-plated metal cap, 14-carat gold nib, 13.5 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter, dating from the mid-20th century in Germany, in good used condition with minor vintage signs and fully functional.
Description from the seller
The Montblanc 644 fountain pen we present is in a very attractive state of preservation, displaying an elegant and well-maintained presence that reflects careful use over time.
The body and section, crafted in high-quality black resin, retain a deep and even shine. Very light micro-scratches typical of a vintage piece are visible only upon close inspection, but overall the material is well preserved, with no cracks or deformations and a clean overall aesthetic.
The gold-plated metal cap shows a natural patina that adds a pleasant vintage character to the piece. The surface displays even, elegant wear from the passage of time that does not affect the cap’s structural integrity. The clip retains its correct shape and functionality, with good fit and alignment.
At the top of the cap the Montblanc emblem is clearly visible, well defined and properly seated. The model number engraving “644” on the knurled cap band remains visible, helping to correctly identify this reference within the brand’s classic range.
The original Montblanc nib, 14-karat gold (14C), is in very good condition, with sharp engravings and no structural deformations. The point shows proper alignment and retains its correct shape, displaying normal signs of use compatible with the piece’s age.
The ebonite feed is clean and well preserved, keeping its structure intact and its ink-supplying function.
The pen has been reviewed and tested, delivered fully functional and ready for use, as is customary for pieces prepared by Collecting Legacy.
Overall, this is a Montblanc 644 with a very attractive vintage aesthetic, where the patina on the metal cap adds personality without compromising the overall good condition of the piece.
Conservation recommendations
To preserve this fountain pen in optimal condition, it is recommended to use high-quality inks specifically designed for fountain pens, avoiding pigmented inks or those with particulates. If not used for an extended period, it is advisable to rinse it with lukewarm water, dry it completely before storing, and keep it in a dry place, away from direct light and extreme temperatures. The mechanism should be operated gently at all times to ensure its long-term durability.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
