Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Montblanc Baby 0 Safety fountain pen, produced in Germany in the first half of the 20th century, with an ebonite body and a metal‑decorated overlay, 0.6 mm nib, 8.1 cm long, in good used condition and fully functional.
Description from the seller
A0000004371
The fountain pen is presented in an overall condition compatible with its age, preserving its historical character and its appeal as a collectible piece.
The body, made of ebonite with a decorative metal coating, shows uniform surface wear and natural patina, especially visible on the overlay, where micro-scratches, small signs of use, and areas gently faded by the passage of time can be seen. This aging is fully consistent with a piece of more than a century old and reinforces its authenticity.
The engravings remain legible, and the decoration continues to be clearly appreciable, maintaining its aesthetic value. The cap preserves the Montblanc star on the top, with normal signs of use but without structural losses.
The original Montblanc nib in 14-karat gold is in good condition of preservation, with visible engravings and no apparent deformations. The feed accompanies properly, and the set maintains its integrity.
The Safety retractable system has been inspected and is operational, allowing the correct extension and retraction of the nib, a particularly relevant aspect in this type of piece.
Overall, this is a complete, functional, and honest example, with signs of use typical of its age, but well preserved and fully suitable for both collection and occasional use.
Conservation recommendations
- Use quality fountain pen inks
- Avoid pigmented inks
- Clean with lukewarm water if not used for a while
- Dry completely before storing
- Store in a dry place, away from direct light and extreme temperatures
- Operate the mechanism gently
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper conservation.
Good luck with the auction!
