USSR – Cosmos Memorabilia Lot: Aluminum cigarette case “МИР КОСМОСУ” (1960s-1970s) + Belomorkanal cigarette pack sealed

Description :

Authentic Soviet memorabilia lot bringing together two emblematic pieces of the Cold War and space conquest. An ideal set for collectors of Soviet history, militaria, or a vintage, characterful decoration.

1. Aluminum cigarette case – Cosmos theme (estimated 1960s-1970s)

- Dimensions: 8.5 × 10.5 cm (pocket size).
- Material: aluminum.
- Engraved motif: a rocket rising into space, accompanied by 3 planets and 2 finely depicted stars.
- Symbolism: a wheat ear, a recurring symbol in Soviet iconography. Unlike the hammer and sickle (workers/peasants), the wheat ear embodies agricultural wealth, abundance, and the regime’s prosperity, as well as the class of agricultural workers. It appeared on the emblems of each Soviet Socialist Republic.
- Cyrillic inscription: « МИР КОСМОСУ » – literal translation: “Peace to the Cosmos.” An ultra-iconic slogan of the Soviet space conquest during the space race.

--Condition: vintage piece in good vintage condition. Signs of wear and slight material loss (patina of time) giving the object a strong authentic charm. No major deformations.

2. Vintage Belomorkanal cigarette pack – sealed, never opened

- Brand: Belomorkanal, the most cult and recognizable Soviet cigarette brand.
- Manufacturer: Rostabakprom (МПП РСФСР).
- Original content: 25 units.
- Condition: case perfectly sealed, never opened.

- Design: blue and beige geographic décor typical of the period, with a map of the USSR. A true flag-bearer of Soviet graphic design from the 1960s-1970s.

Historical reminder:
The “papirosy” (Russian for cigarettes) are the famous traditional Russian cigarettes, recognizable by their long hollow cardboard tip serving as a filter and a cooler. They were the quintessential “people’s cigarette.” The Belomorkanal model, referencing the famous White Sea Canal, was the favorite brand among soldiers, workers, and Russian intellectuals.

Lot interest:
Perfect pairing between the container (the space-age cigarette case) and the content (Belomorkanal cigarettes). An instant journey to the era of the Cold War and the Moon race. Ideal for a display case, a vintage desk, or a unique gift for a history enthusiast.
