Giovanni Vetere, "Familie", original edition, mixed media on plywood (fresco), signed, circa 2000, 102 × 82 cm with frame, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
Giovanni Vetere (born 1940) – “Family”
Large-format, original mixed technique on plywood, executed in the material technique characteristic of Giovanni Vetere, which the artist calls “Fresco.”
The expressive composition shows two stylized figures with bright orange faces and red-toned bodies, embedded in a mysterious, almost fairy-tale-like landscape. In the lower area, children and cats as well as fish populate the scene.
Especially appealing is the unusual color design: intense ultramarine and cobalt blue tones meet dark green and ochre surfaces, while the bold orange and red tones of the figures provide striking accents. The deliberately restrained, almost childlike form language lends the work a distinctive, narrative radiance.
The material-focused painting technique with its grainy, partly relief-like surface creates a special depth and lively texture. Through the interplay of different materials and color layers, a characteristic fresco-like effect emerges.
