Giovanni Vetere, Mutter mit Kind - resco, a fresco/mixed-media work on a panel, Original edition, created circa 2000, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Giovanni Vetere (born 1940 in Strongoli, Calabria) - "Mother with Child"
Original, monogrammed mixed media on hardboard, described by the artist as a “Fresco.”
A characteristic work by the Italian artist Giovanni Vetere, whose unmistakable visual language is defined by strongly simplified, almost childlike figures, radiant colors, and symbolic motifs.
The composition shows two figures in an intensely blue pictorial landscape, surrounded by fish, flowers and other colored elements. The deliberately reduced formal language and the strong contrasts give the work a special, almost fairy-tale aura.
Technically, this is a meticulously executed material painting in oil, bitumen, sand or other incorporated materials. The grainy, relief-like surface texture recalls the effect of traditional fresco painting and gives the work a notable tactile depth. Even the eyes of the figures are plastically emphasized through additional material elements.
