Description from the seller
DOS SILLAS is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work portrays an interior opening onto a tropical garden, where two dark-fiber armchairs with reddish cushions occupy the foreground. In front of them, tall green doors swing wide and direct the gaze toward a bright terrace, filled with vegetation and flowers. The scene conveys serenity, hospitality, and the sense of a space prepared for sharing a conversation or a moment of rest.
The composition is structured around a marked symmetry. The two chairs balance the scene on both sides of the entry, while the open doors function as a frame within the painting and create a deep perspective toward the exterior. This organization turns the architecture into a visual invitation: the viewer seems to be inside the room, about to step into the garden.
Color contrast is one of the work’s great attractions. The deep greens of the doors dialogue with the intense yellows and pinks of the walls, while the coral cushions and orange flowers introduce warm accents. The blue floor reflects the exterior light and reinforces the transition between interior and terrace. Ernest García uses broad, spontaneous brushstrokes, especially in the vegetation, where the painterly gesture brings freshness, movement, and exuberance.
The painting bears affinities with Fauvism, particularly with Henri Matisse’s interiors, for the freedom of color, the decorative presence of plants, and the use of doors and windows as elements that expand space. Echoes of Pierre Bonnard can also be appreciated in the domestic atmosphere and in the ability to transform a daily room into a luminous and sensory experience.
Beyond merely representing two pieces of furniture, Dos sillas speaks of encounter, companionship, and the house as a refuge open to nature. The empty armchairs suggest an absent presence or a conversation about to begin. That combination of intimacy and openness makes the scene a poetic image about waiting, rest, and the pleasure of inhabiting spaces filled with light.
Dos sillas is especially attractive to collectors interested in contemporary figurative painting, tropical interiors, gardens, terraces, wicker chairs, green doors, domestic architecture, interior design, decorative art, Fauvism, Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard, colorful painting, tropical plants, and scenes with a luminous atmosphere.
