Description from the seller
Otto Rohse (Insterburg 1925 – Hamburg 2016).
"Die alte Main-Brücke zu Würzburg" (The Old Main Bridge in Würzburg), 1987.
Copper engraving with an inked background.
Hand-signed and numbered.
Edition of 50 copies.
Dimensions: 38.5 x 50.5 cm.
Catalogue Raisonné: *Otto Rohse. Werkverzeichnis der Kupferstiche 1963-1995*, no. 175.
In excellent condition.
A masterful fusion of technical craftsmanship, naturalistic detail, and a restrained luminosity. Unlike his wood engravings—which are denser and characterized by strong contrasts—the copper medium allowed him to achieve a unique level of refinement, delicacy, and visual dynamism.
