T. Rex, Electric Warrior (Japan) ULTRA RARE 1971 white label promo, Odeon OP-80382, 1 item, Japan release, sleeve VG+, vinyl EX, includes insert (OBI not included).
Description from the seller
Highly collectible original 1971 Japanese white label promo pressing of T. Rex's Electric Warrior, issued on Odeon under catalogue number OP-80382.
This is the original Japanese first pressing, and importantly this copy is the much scarcer promotional edition, produced for radio, press and industry use rather than normal retail distribution. Japanese specialist dealers specifically describe OP-80382 promotional copies as very difficult to encounter, even within Japan. The dedicated white promotional labels immediately distinguish this copy from the standard commercial edition and make it particularly attractive for collectors of Japanese pressings, Marc Bolan and early glam rock.
The original Japanese OP-80382 package was issued with elaborate extras including an OBI, Japanese insert, inner sleeve and large poster. This copy retains the original Japanese insert; the OBI is not included. Fully accessorised promo copies are documented with the distinctive "Rock Now" OBI and large poster.
Released in 1971, Electric Warrior was the album that transformed Marc Bolan and T. Rex into one of the defining acts of the glam-rock era. Produced by Tony Visconti, the album features an exceptional sequence of T. Rex classics including "Mambo Sun," "Cosmic Dancer," "Jeepster," "Monolith," "Get It On," "Planet Queen," "Life's a Gas" and "Rip Off." The iconic sleeve photography by Spud Murphy became one of the most recognisable images associated with T. Rex.
⸻
Sleeve (VG+):
The original sleeve remains a solid and very presentable VG+ example, showing normal age-related wear but no major distracting damage. The classic black-and-gold artwork continues to display very nicely.
Insert:
Original Japanese insert included.
Vinyl (EX):
The vinyl remains in excellent condition, retaining a strong original gloss with only light signs of previous play or handling. Overall a very clean and attractive example of this exceptionally difficult Japanese promotional pressing.
