AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Prospective perspective drawing of a possible prototypical-typological-archival project for an experimental seat designed by Carlo Mollino (1905-1973) in 1952 for the RAI headquarters in Turin.

Carried out directly on two panels of rough-pressed multilayer cardboard, the drawing perfectly embodies Mollino's unique style, suspended between engineering precision, surrealist influences, and biomorphic forms.

The painting (original and sole work) is realized with aeropainting technique, with construction lines left visible and technical and dimensional annotations recognizable in graphite. At the top runs the table’s codified header “F/2-52 - SEDUTA RAI COMP. MONOSCOCCA A CALDO 130x40,” where the dimensional indication reveals the piece size in centimeters of the plywood sheet necessary to fabricate the seat.

At the bottom right there is a double revenue stamp with a postmark bearing the date 12 December 1952, paired with a dry stamp of the S.I.S.E 1925 company of Turin, a branch of the well-known Biella ski factory that would provide its artisans for bending the plywood and for shaping the prototype of the seat.

The board is in good condition and consists of two elements with an overall dimension of 141x101 cm (h x w).

It is shipped in a single coupled parcel, wrapped in bubble wrap and enclosed in rigid cardboard with a front sheet, placed in contact with the painting material to ensure its protection.
