Carlos Arriaga's London Is Watching You, a 2024 digital print (edition 4 of 30), 52 x 80 cm, in exceptionally well preserved condition, signed, sold directly by the artist.
Description from the seller
Digital painting on transmuted photography.
The skies I depict with an almost unreal appearance are not merely aesthetic choices; they are metaphors for the state of our environment and for the consequences of human intervention.
Each work aims to invite reflection, to question our impact and to imagine where we are heading if we do not regain the lost balance.
This series of works reflects on the fragile relationship between humanity and nature. Through striking, high-contrast images, I seek to capture a world where the atmosphere seems altered, uneasy, and transmuted.
The London Eye in a photograph of great technical complexity and with a major formal transformation due to light and color.
A novel photograph in which the mute figure is shown transformed and, in a sense, inverted.
Lights become shadows, shadows become lights, colors transform into their complementary hues, and magic emerges.
It is a transmuted photograph with the inverted positive that becomes what was once called the negative, as in silver halide films but greatly improved with extensive digital painting work.
These cityscapes are the magical result of extensive research and work, both intellectual and manual, with the computer.
A recognizable urban landscape but totally transformed through light and color.
A technique unique in the world, as far as I know.
Artwork around the world, in order of number of paintings and photographs:
Spain, Germany, Netherlands, USA, Italy, United Kingdom, France, Austria, Belgium, Japan, Taiwan, Switzerland, Mexico, Luxembourg, Romania, Australia, Portugal.
