Title: Suspended Waiting
Dimensions: 60x60 cm
Year: 2025
Elena Rigano is a contemporary artist whose painterly practice focuses on representing suspended moments in everyday life. Through careful and measured figuration, she investigates the intimate dimension of existence, transforming ordinary gestures into images laden with emotional tension and silence.
Her research develops from a dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity: on one hand the influence of the great masters of painting in building light and composition; on the other, a visually cinematic sensibility, capable of evoking suspended atmospheres and implicit narratives. Her figures, often depicted from the back or immersed in their thoughts, inhabit essential spaces where time seems to slow down, allowing subtle, universal inner states to emerge.
Rigano’s work is distinguished by a calibrated use of light, which becomes a central narrative element, and by an intense yet controlled color palette, where contrasts help define the visual rhythm of the piece. Each painting presents itself as an autonomous scene, yet at the same time part of a broader inquiry into themes of waiting, distance, and the perception of time.
In recent years, her work has attracted the attention of private collectors and exhibition venues interested in new figurative contemporary art, consolidating a recognizable and coherent poetics.
NB: The artwork will be shipped inside a sturdy tube suitable for shipping. The colors of the painting may differ slightly from the photos due to screen settings. In person, the artworks are more beautiful than in photography: you can appreciate the hypnotic beauty of the oil colors coming to life on the canvas.
