Constructed from keyaki 欅 (Japanese zelkova) wood, the cabinet has front panels with wood veneer with a wavy grain and warm, flame-like colour variation give the cabinet its distinctive appearance.

The upper section is arranged with four pairs of sliding panel doors, two open display areas and a small drawer. One display area features an S-shaped shelf, while the back panels have decorative floral cut-outs.
The lower section comprises a pair of sliding doors, five drawers of varying sizes and a hinged cupboard door. The drawers are fitted with decorative copper warabite-shaped bail handles.

A practical and versatile cabinet in very good restored condition, with minor traces of wear consistent with age and use. Please refer to the photographs for a clear impression of the condition.

Tea cabinets 茶箪笥 (cha’dansu) were traditionally used for storing tea utensils, ceramics and household items, while the open shelving provided space for displaying prized objects.
