Andrea Lehmann’s hand-signed original oil painting *Hate you all* (2007) depicts a portrait.
Description from the seller
This intriguing and atmospheric painting shows a young woman in a long, light-colored dress, lovingly holding a dog against her. Her dreamy, slightly melancholic gaze and the tender embrace give the scene an intimate and mysterious character. The artist combines a refined, realistic rendering of the face with a loose, expressive painting technique, which is especially visible in the clothing and the animal’s fur. The soft shades of white, cream, pink, and gray form a strong contrast with the nearly black background, causing the figure to stand out in a striking way. The dark, almost abstract surroundings and the subtle distortions in the portrayal create an alienating, fairy-tale mood. The painting balances between reality and fantasy and evokes associations with security, vulnerability, and secrecy. The combination of classical portraiture and an contemporary, surreal visual language makes the work both enchanting and enigmatic and invites the viewer to discover their own story behind the scene.

2007
Andrea Lehmann was born in 1975 in Düsseldorf and is among the prominent contemporary artists within German figurative painting. From 1995 to 2002 she studied at the prestigious Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where she became a master pupil of the renowned artist Markus Lüpertz in 2000. Her work is characterized by a distinctive blend of realism, neo-romanticism, surrealism, and influences from the Japanese manga culture. Especially her mysterious female portraits and imaginative scenes, in which beauty and estrangement are continually intertwined, have brought her international recognition. Lehmann draws inspiration from fairy tales, mythology, dreams, and the painting traditions of old masters. Her figures often inhabit a enigmatic world where the boundary between reality and fantasy blurs. Through her refined painting technique, idiosyncratic use of color, and psychologically charged visual language, she creates works that can be both seductive and somewhat unsettling. Her work has been exhibited in leading international art institutions and galleries, including the Saatchi Gallery in London and the Rubell Family Collection in Miami. Lehmann lives and works in Düsseldorf and has earned a recognizable place in contemporary European painting with her personal, fantastical visual language.
