Concept & Poetic Narration

A vertical swirl of colors, lightness, and transformation: The work “The Dance of the Butterflies – Striving for Light” captures the soul’s eternal longing for ascent and illumination. A swarm of meticulously detailed butterflies rises from the deep, mysterious shadows of an organically dark background and moves in a dynamic spiral toward the light.

The butterfly stands as a timeless symbol of metamorphosis, the transience of the moment, and immortal hope. This 2026 work combines poetic symbolism with the power of nature and reminds us that every darkness is the fertile ground for rising into the light.
What makes this work special

Tactile 3D-impasto texture: The wings of the butterflies and the fine structures are built in a powerful, relief-like mixed technique on canvas. This gives the painting a three-dimensional depth, making the moths almost hover out of the background.

Light and color contrasts: The multilayered, deep green-shadowed background creates a moody chiaroscuro (light-dark play), on which the luminous blues, oranges, reds, and yellows of the wings glow intensely.

Vivid dynamism: Depending on the incidence of light and viewing angle, the painting changes its aura. The noble texture of the canvas enhances the illusion of movement and flight.
