The Carrera
In the mid-1970s, Montblanc began a partnership with Porsche for a range of entry-level pens that gave rise to the Carrera line of pens. Of these, the range (launched in 1978) was the premium line. A tubular design, characteristic of the era, the Carrera pens were made in brushed metal or silver, with an unusual clip. The range was available in ballpoint, rollerball, and fountain pen variants. The nibs were steel (gold nibs were also available as an option) and could use cartridges or a ink converter. The Carrera range lasted until around 1984. Note that the ballpoint was one of the last Montblanc models to use the oldest type of refill (longer than the current version, but these can be adapted with an extender and are used in older Montblanc ballpoint pens).
