AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Corrado Preti (Lugo, 1931). 20 original black-and-white photographs mounted in a 35.5 x 39.5 cm album. 1979-1997. Photographs of various sizes, on average 24 x 29 cm. Rome - Venice - Venice Lido - Venice Biennale - Catanzaro - A collage - A hand-colored photo finally. The photos are in excellent condition and mounted in the album with double-sided tape points. As is often the case with this photographer, the photos are neither signed nor stamped. Stamp at the bottom. "In the panorama of Italian photography, there are authors who have not sought the limelight but deserve a place of honor for the quality of their vision. Corrado Preti is exactly that: an extraordinary discovery or rediscovery, a photographer who remained out of mainstream circuits for a long time but endowed with astonishing technical and aesthetic mastery. His work, which spans over fifty years of travels around the world, is not mere geographical documentation, but a true poetic universe. Discovering today his whites and blacks, starting from the pioneering journey to India in 1969, means immersing oneself in a time and a world that no longer exist, told with the pure, discerning, and deep gaze of the great masters of the twentieth century."

Corrado Preti (born in Lugo in 1931) is an Italian photographer known mainly for his reportage and travel photography. He began cultivating an interest in photography in the 1950s in Lugo (Ravenna), gradually shaping a style influenced by the great masters of the history of photography. Preti has traveled the world documenting cultures, landscapes, and moments of daily life. One of his first and most important reports dates back to 1969 during a journey to India, from which a solo exhibition also originated. In 2019 he published the anthology book “In viaggio. Mezzo secolo di fotografie in giro per il mondo” (published by Danilo Montanari Editore), curated by Daniele Serafini. The volume and the related exhibitions comprise a carefully selected set of his most significant shots, considered a true poetic testimony of a time in which traveling and photographing represented an existential adventure."
