Description from the seller
"The Grand Chair" is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. The work features a large yellow wicker chair dominating the composition, accompanied by a blue watering can full of red roses.
The chair’s curved, wrapping structure dominates space thanks to its scale and an intense range of yellows and ochres. Its numerous black lines create a graphic rhythm that contrasts with the organic shapes of the flowers. In the foreground, the blue watering can functions as an improvised vase from which a abundant bouquet of roses and green leaves emerges, introducing an appealing combination between a quotidian object and nature.
The background is built with large geometric blocks of orange and violet-blue, while the dark green floor provides stability to the scene. The black outlines, almost flat color surfaces, and the deliberate reduction of perspective intensify the painting’s graphic character.
The free handling of color and the integration of furniture, flowers, and decorative patterns connect the work with Fauvism and, especially, with the concept of the domestic interior present in Henri Matisse. The simplification of objects and the intensity of contrasts allow what is apparently an ordinary scene to transform into a modern composition with great visual impact.
"The Grand Chair" is a cheerful and bold work, particularly attractive to collectors interested in interiors, design chairs, furniture, roses, still lifes with flowers, Fauvism, expressive color, and contemporary figurative painting.
