Peter Lindbergh (1944–2019) was a German fashion photographer whose stark, cinematic black-and-white images helped redefine late-20th-century fashion photography. He is especially associated with the rise of the supermodel era, notably through his January 1990 British Vogue cover featuring Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Tatjana Patitz, Cindy Crawford, and Christy Turlington. Favouring natural beauty over heavy retouching, Lindbergh brought a more human, narrative, and emotionally direct approach to editorial portraiture.
