Description from the seller
S.T. Dupont Maki-e Lighter
This Line 2 lighter is a true work of art, crafted using the centuries-old Japanese Maki-e technique: each piece is carefully handmade by skilled artisans who apply precious gold and silver powder to bring the images to life with an elegance and depth unlike any other.
To achieve this result, an artisan spends about 12 hours to create each design on a lighter.
The artisans layer gold powder of varying sizes, thereby creating highly complex designs. By adjusting the concentration and the different consistencies of the gold powder, they achieve a wide range of stunning effects, bringing to life unique details.
Each piece of the Maki-e collection is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans, using precious materials such as mother-of-pearl, gold powder, and silver powder, making this collection truly one-of-a-kind.
Due to the intricate handcrafted process, the production process takes a long time.
The Japanese artisans who create the decorations can produce only 30 pieces every two months, highlighting the rarity and exclusivity of this collection.
