Valeriano Trubbiani, Senza Titolo, a hand-signed serigraphy of animals (two monkeys) in a complex mechanical structure, edition 65/75, 50 × 70 cm, Italy, 1970–1980, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Valeriano Trubbiani (1937–2020) – Untitled – Original signed and numbered serigraphy, seventies
Serigraphy by Valeriano Trubbiani, Italian artist born in Macerata in 1937 and who passed away in Ancona in 2020, author of an original investigation developed between sculpture, drawing, and graphics.
The work depicts two monkeys represented inside a complex mechanical structure, composed of circles, supports, straps and containment devices. The deep red background, on which the figures are traced in black, enhances the visual strength of the composition and creates a stark contrast with the meticulous line used to describe the animals’ fur and the details of the apparatus.
The scene stands out for its visionary and unsettling character: the animals, inserted in a structure that seems to limit their movements, become protagonists of an ambiguous representation, suspended between naturalistic observation, fantastical imagination, and reflection on the relationship between nature and artifice. Trubbiani’s figurative language here lends itself to a surreal and grotesque reading, in which the precision of the drawing coexists with an unusual and perturbing situation.
The serigraphy is signed in pencil by the artist at the bottom right and numbered 65/75 at the bottom left, an element that identifies the piece as part of a limited edition of 75 copies. The sheet measures 50 × 70 cm and is printed on Fabriano paper intended for artistic reproductions.
Provenance: private collection of Francesco Bongiovanni, son of the marbler printer Luciano Bongiovanni, who collaborated with Valeriano Trubbiani in the creation of etchings and graphic portfolios. The provenance is indicated based on available information and is not accompanied by certifying documentation.
There are no certificates of authenticity, purchase invoices, or references to catalogues raisonnés.
Condition: good. There are slight creases near the lower margin, which do not compromise the legibility of the image nor the overall enjoyment of the work.
Shipping will be carried out with the utmost care, using packaging adequate to protect art prints on paper, to minimize the risk of creases and damage during transport.
