Description from the seller
Unusual antique 19th century novelty cigar humidor / tobacco box, designed in the form of a dog kennel, with a characterful metal dog
The box is made from warm-toned wood and features a pitched kennel-style roof, hinged upper compartment, original lock with key, and a removable pierced wooden cigar rack inside.
A fantastic example of an antique novelty smoking accessory, and a particularly unusual decorative object for collectors of cigar and tobacco antiques, novelty boxes, dog-related antiques, or Victorian decorative pieces.
Dimensions: approximately 18 × 15 × 13 cm / 7.1 × 5.9 × 5.1 in.
Condition:
Antique condition with age-related wear, scratches, marks and patina throughout. There is a large damaged and missing section to one corner of the base board, clearly visible in the photographs. The dark covering on the underside is also worn and distressed around the edges. Further minor wear is present to the wood, metal fittings and interior, consistent with age and use.
Please examine all photographs carefully, particularly the images of the underside and damaged base, as they form an important part of the condition description.
