Description from the seller

For sale—a magnificent classical guitar from the Taymar brand, a name deeply rooted in the tradition of Valencian luthiery, born from the legacy and craft of the historic Tatay dynasty.

History and Tradition: The Tatay Family Legacy

To understand the value of this guitar, one must travel back to the late 19th century (around 1889), when master luthier Vicente Tatay Tomás founded in Valencia one of the most emblematic and influential guitar workshops in Spain. Over the decades, the Tatay saga became a reference in the handmade construction of string instruments, blending techniques from the Mediterranean school with a rigorous selection of noble woods.

The Taymar brand arises precisely from the heirs of this dynasty, under the mastery of José Luis and Salvador Tatay Martín (Tatay-Martín / TAYMAR). During the 1970s and 1980s, they continued the family craft, building guitars of enormous acoustic and constructive quality, highly valued for their durability and impeccable sound.

Wood and Technical Specifications

This unit features a classic and noble combination of mature woods with very comfortable measurements and great projection: Top: Cedar, sweet, warm, enveloping sound with immediate response.

Back and Sides: Palosanto / Palisander,
Fingerboard: Ebony

Excellent basses, defined highs, and great harmonic richness.

Scale/Scale Length: 655 mm (traditional concert scale, providing higher tension, projection, and volume).
Action at 12th fret: 3.5 mm (very comfortable height for classical playing).

Bone saddle height: 10 mm (room to lower the action further on the bridge if desired in the future).

String spacing at saddle: 55 mm.

String spacing at nut: 47 mm.

Sound and Condition: Given a instrument with fully seasoned woods after decades, it offers a round, powerful timbre with that classic character typical of the golden age of Levantine guitar-making.

Wood condition: It presents small cracks in the varnish near the end of the top, along the sides/edges. It is purely aesthetic and does not affect the sound quality or projection of the instrument.

Feel and Setup: Very comfortable feel for the left hand, with a string height ideal for comfortable playing without hindrance.
