Description from the seller
France in Campaign – a Century of Wars (1800–1900) - 100 color plates is a well-known French military-historical lavish work on dress uniforms. The work comprises exactly 100 color plates of uniforms (cent planches en couleurs).
• It documents the development of French military uniforms throughout the entire 19th century – beginning with the Revolutionary Wars (including the Battle of Valmy 1792) and the Napoleonic era, through the Franco-Prussian War 1870/71, up to colonial troops (such as the Sahara tirailleurs) at the turn of the century (1901).
The drawings by Rozat de Mandres are regarded in uniformology as particularly valuable, because they are based exclusively on authentic original documents, archival pieces, and contemporary artworks.
