Antieke Jugendstil / Art Nouveau Messing Sigarendoos met Jachthond – WMF (ca. 1900) - No reserve price - Humidor - Copper

A beautiful and authentic example of German Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) metalwork from the early 20th century, most likely crafted by the renowned WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik).

This generous cigar box (24 x 13 x 7 cm) is finished in patinated brass and is an iconic piece for the antique gentlemen's room or the classic desk. The lid features a beautifully detailed repoussé relief of a hunting dog (Pointer / German Pointer) with a bird in its mouth, surrounded by sleek geometric Jugendstil ornaments.

The underside of the box shows the artisanal hammered texture (Hammerschlagoptik / Martelé), typical of the Arts & Crafts influences within the Jugendstil period. The box rests on four elegant, characteristic ball feet that prevent scratching of the furniture.

The object is in an honest, unrestored vintage condition with a stunning, authentic aged patina. The hinge needs to be soldered.
