Description from the seller
José María Lamo de Espinosa – "Like Life Itself", 2022
Black and white photography. Limited edition 1/24, signed, dated and hand-annotated by the artist.
The reflection of a facade on moving water becomes an almost abstract image: windows, balconies and moldings merge into waves, veins and textures that recall the bark of a tree or a fabric. Only the isolated fragments on the left betray the architectural origin of the image. A photograph about how reality deforms and blends, and about the effort of looking carefully to understand it.
On the back, the artist has handwritten the title and a reflection on the work: "Confusion, mixture, deformation. You have to pay close attention to get it right, to focus, to survive".
Technique: print on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta paper, museum-quality, acid-free photographic paper, with a glossy finish and the deep blacks of traditional baryta photography.
Measurements: 70 × 50 cm (paper). Delivered unframed.
Edition: 1/24. Copy number 1 of the edition.
Signature: signed "J. Lamo de Espinosa", dated (2022), numbered and handwritten in green ink on the back.
Provenance: Michels de Champourcin Gallery (Madrid and Marbella), gallery representing the artist.
Documentation: authenticity certificate signed by the artist included.
Condition: as new, with no marks or defects.
About the artist: José María Lamo de Espinosa is a photographer and director of the Michels de Champourcin Gallery, with locations in Madrid and Marbella.
