Europa fountain pen, Italian made, with a 18 kt gold nib (.750) and a resin/polyester body, 12 cm long and 4.5 cm in diameter, dating from the early 20th century, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
EUROPA retracting fountain pen from the 1930s with 14K gold nib, revised, and comes with box.
I am selling a vintage European fountain pen, produced in Italy, with a retractable nib and a “Safety” retracting system. A specimen attributable to the 1930s, interesting for collectors and enthusiasts of Italian fountain pens.
Construction features a laminated paneled cover with guilloché diamond pattern. Detail of the stamping. Model produced by Fratelli Cavaliere, bearing Linda Darnes hallmarks.
The body and cap present an elegant faceted finish with floral decorations and wavy motifs. The cap is adorned with a silver-colored ornamental band and a clip.
CHARACTERISTICS
• Europa brand engraved on the barrel.
• 14-karat gold nib, stamped “EUROPA 585”.
• Decorated finish with marking “750”, presumably gold-plated;
• Retractable nib, photographed both extended and retracted.
• Cap with screw closure.
REPAIR AND FUNCTION
The pen has just been cleaned and fully serviced at Stilografiche Monasterolo, the historic Turin specialty shop, at 24 Cernaia Street.
The work is documented by the receipt dated October 9, 2026, for €40, visible in the photographs.
The pen is fully functional, including the nib extension and retraction mechanism.
CONDITION (AESTHETIC)
There are scratches and signs of use on the finish, visible in the photographs. The decorations remain clearly discernible. The box shows wear and aging.
