A bit of history about one of the brands:
Elegant mechanical pencil or lapicera, 1930s, from the renowned German firm KAWECO. Crafted in original antique cellulose typical of the era, marbled in greens and blacks, following Art Deco aesthetics. The curved gold-colored metal clip holds the firm’s distinctive brass seal along with a crown or upper band in black resin or ebonite. Kaweco was founded in 1883 from a pen-clip factory. It was the first German manufacturer of this system. They also produced fountain pens, markers, inks… In 1929 the company was absorbed by a Wiesloch Company. Kaweco was the first German manufacturer to use injection molding in its production, until it was forced to close in 1970. In 1972, during the Munich Olympic Games, the firm’s iconic Sport model was introduced on a commemorative Olympic coin. In 1995 H & M Gutberlet GmbH acquired Kaweco’s rights, developing the Sport model in the original 1930s style.
Parker Pen Company is a luxury pen manufacturer founded in 1888 by George Safford Parker in the United States. It quickly became one of the world’s most prestigious pen makers, used to sign important moments in history such as World War II armistice signings and nuclear disarmament treaties between the US and the USSR during the Cold War. Parker’s commitment to delivering good pens to the world led it to produce both luxury and everyday models throughout its history. The problem with affordable pens of the era was their fragility, and Parker made the difference by using quality materials. The company’s philosophy was set by George Safford Parker over 120 years ago: “Do something better and people will buy it.”
