Description from the seller
Luis Enrique González
Hazel Light, 2026
Oil on canvas, 41 × 40.5 cm (stretched)
Signed
Includes certificate of authenticity
Entirely handmade piece
Portrait of a European goldfinch perched on a hazelnut branch, with the catkins hanging on both sides of the frame. The warm, enveloping ochre-gold background concentrates all the light on the bird’s plumage — red mask, white and black bib, brown back, yellow wing stripe — with the same precision as the artist’s other goldfinch series. The diagonal branch and the catkins on both sides provide a framing variation within that series.
The work is shipped unstretched, rolled and protected in a transport tube. Framed images are only for reference; the frame is not included in the sale.
Luis Enrique González González (Puerto Padre, Las Tunas, Cuba, 1993) is a Cuban visual artist trained in 2012 at the Professional Academy of Plastic Arts of Las Tunas, specializing in realistic portraits of people and animals. He currently resides and works in Amapá (Brazil), where his work has been recognized with the Aldir Blanc Certification for Local Artists (2025) and has received coverage in media such as G1 Amapá (Rede Globo) and Jornal Guarani, in addition to participating in group exhibitions at the Espaço Cultural Dr. Phelippe Daou."
