Gina Maffei was born in Trento. After completing the artistic high school diploma she enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice where her teachers were: Guido Cadorin, Armando Pizzinato and Afro. In 1946 she moved to Milan and in the early fifties began to exhibit in group shows. She faced her first solo exhibition in 1967 in Riva del Garda, which would then be followed by numerous others in various Italian cities, obtaining prestigious recognition and the attention of the most discerning critics. In this regard, the interventions of Mario De Micheli, Renato Birolli, Elvira Cassa Salvi, Luigi Serravalli, Raffaele De Grada, Davide Lajolo, Luigi Carluccio, Elda Fezzi, Mario Ghilardi, Carlo Munari, Mauro Corradini, Liana Bortolon, Francesco Butturini, Giuliano Menato, Marina De Stasio, Francesco Pagliari are to be cited. Since 1981 she has regularly exhibited at the Galleria Ponte Rosso in Milan; solo exhibitions were organized in 1984, 1989 and 1998.
